Thursday, 25th September 2008 (410 views)

Central African Gold has revealed that gold output has risen at its Bibiani mine in Ghana.

Underground production increased to circa 33,500 tonnes per month grading 2.6 g/t Au in July and 40,000 tonnes per month grading 2.6 g/t Au in August.

A sampling programme at the the site has returned grades that were "better than expected", the firm stated.

Chief executive Greg Hunter said that the company's ambition is to "become a leading mid-tier gold producer with a world class portfolio of exploration and production assets, an objective which the board believes is within sight".

Progress has also been made on the organisation's other operations in Mali, Botswana and Zimbabwe - the firm's total attributable resources now stand at 5.6 million ounces of gold.

Meanwhile, Aquentium has revealed that it is searching for an investment bank to help raise capital for a gold exploration programme in Botswana.
