NovaGold begins production in AlaskaMonday, 29th September 2008 (327 views) NovaGold Resources has commenced gold production at the Rock Creek mine in Alaska after receiving official permission, it has been reported.State regulators have approved the firm's plans to boost production at the site, according to the Canadian Mining Journal. The mine is expected to achieve an annual output of 100,000 ounces of gold and the company hopes to generate a steady cash income from the project on a yearly basis. It has been stockpiling ore produced from previous mining and it has been stated that there are approximately 450,000 tonnes of ore ready to be put through the milling process. This amount is the equivalent of two months of full-capacity production. Meanwhile, Silverado Gold Mines recently revealed that it has completed 34 drill holes covering 11,597 ft at the Workman's Bench target at its Nolan Creek project in Alaska. The majority of samples analysed from this area contained gold.
