Gold grades at Alaskan project 'rival that of world-class Nevada'The news feeds on this site are independently provided by Adfero Limited © and do not represent the views or opinions of the World Gold Council. Tuesday, 30th September 2008 (1094 views) International Tower Hill Mines (ITH) has announced that the latest results from its expansion programme at the Livengood gold project in Alaska are "positive".Highlights include 3.35 g/t gold across 25.91 metres, 1.32 g/t gold across 143.26 metres, 1.04 g/t gold across 123.45 metres and 1.16 g/t gold across 79.25 metres. President and chief executive in office Jeff Pontius commented: "Although it is early days in the development of the Livengood deposit, the broad distribution of significant gold throughout the entire host rock package is highly encouraging." He went on to say that there were "striking" geological similarities between the project and the "world-class" deposits of Nevada. Extended drilling has indicated that there may be potential for a larger deposit at Livengood than was previously thought, Mr Pontius added. Meanwhile, the naming of Alaska governor Sarah Palin as US presidential candidate John McCain's running mate has sparked several debates about her stance on mining issues, according to the Union Leader.
