Safe World Peace collection enjoys US debut

Tuesday, 28th October 2008 (485 views)

The Safe World Peace jewellery collection, designed to promote peace between "people from diverse world religions and cultures", has been launched in the US.

Featuring gold and white gold necklaces, earrings, and bracelets, the collection was previously only available in Europe and each item includes safe, world, and peace represented by the symbols of the Christian cross, the star of David, and the Islamic crescent.

Safe World Peace jewellery is designed by Fadia Otte and a new distributor, OC Tanner, has signed up to sell the collection in the US.

A portion of sales from the jewellery collection is donated to charities that support children around the world, regardless of their religion and the collection is "designed to inspire respect, tolerance, and harmony".

Fadia Otte was born in Beirut, Lebanon and witnessed war as a child, including bombs that caused the death of her brother and almost killed her at the age of eight.

Originally launched in London, Safe World Peace debuted at the Academy Awards in March 2006 and appeared at the Cannes Film Festival this year.

Celebrities such as Sean Penn, Dennis Hopper, Jude Law, Billy Zane, Fergie, Goldie Hawn, John Schneider and Sharon Stone have all worn necklaces from the collection.
