Gold championship rings for Celtics team

Friday, 31st October 2008 (755 views)

Gold rings worth around $30,000 (£18,500) have been given to members of the Boston Celtics winning basketball team.

Designed by Balfour, the rings feature the Larry O'Brien Trophy, Banner 17 on one shank, Ubuntu, the team’s mantra for the 2007-2008 season, the signature of Celtics patriarch Red Auerbach and each players name and number.

Each ring is made from 14-c white gold with an emerald and diamond-studded shamrock integrated into the design to commemorate the Boston Celtics 17th NBA Championship.

Balfour has also created an exclusive line of Celtics championship jewellery for fans of the team, including a gold fan ring.

The company specialises in commemorative jewellery and other products for sports teams, graduation and other events and has made championship rings for a number of top teams in the US.

Championship rings are becoming increasingly popular for winning sports teams and Russia's victorious international hockey team has also been presented with gold rings recently.
