Wednesday, 19th November 2008 (970 views) Astral Mining and Kootenay Gold have reported the results of a 34-hole, 5071.81m diamond drilling programme at the Jumping Josephine gold project. The project in British Columbia is operated by the joint venture partners and Canadian company Astral has earned a 60 per cent interest from emerging exploration firm Kootenay. Significant results of the diamond drilling programme include the intersection of a new stockwork zone 400m south-east of the JJ main zone and the extension of the main discovery zone 180m south along strike from previous drilling to more than 900m horizontal extent and to a maximum vertical depth of 240m. The two mining companies have also revealed results of up to four metres at 21.04 g/t gold from infill drilling at the discovery zone and Astral's surface exploration has returned grades up to five g/t gold from rock samples along the JJ Main trend around 1.5km from the nearest drilling. Surface evidence suggests the mineralised zone could exceed 2.5km in length and drilling to date indicates that the zone is open to depth and along strike. A series of applications for work at Jumping Josephine will be prepared over the winter period. Astral and Kootenay signed an amendment to the terms of the option agreement relating to mineral claims comprised in the JJ property with the execution of the estate of Ralph England in June this year.
