Sotheby's has announced that a white gold watch will be one of the highlights of an auction set to take place in Qatar next March.

The famous auction house is holding its first-ever major international auction series in the Middle East on March 18th and 19th 2009.

According to Sotheby's, highlights of the auctions at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Doha include a white gold and diamond set minute Breguet repeating wristwatch in the fine watches sale, with an estimated guide price of $240,000-£440,000 (£157,000-£288,000).

Thought to have been made in 2000, the watch measures 40mm in width and will also be accompanied in the sale by a white gold and diamond set Audemars Piguet Royal Oak bracelet watch that is expected to fetch $300,000-$500,000.

Key pieces in all the sales will be put on display in the United Arab Emirates during February ahead of the auction days.

Sotheby's is opening an office in Qatar and the first auction series is expected to generate in excess of $10 million.
