Mariana Resources (UK) has published initial results from exploratory drilling at its Sierra Blanca silver-gold project in Santa Cruz province, Argentina.

The company has completed 12 holes out of 22 at Veta Chala, including 21m at 0.7 g.t of gold from a downhole depth of 33m.

Early results have been described as "encouraging", with four holes at Chala Splay and Chala Central intersecting multi-stage quartz veins and breccias.

Publishing initial drill assay results for the prospect, the company stated that they had indicated promising finds such as a core length silver and high grade gold mineralised structure of up to 21m.

The drilling programme was completed last month and comprised 37 holes for a total of 3,005m.

AIM-listed Mariana Resources holds the Sierra Blanca and nearby Caadon Largo concessions jointly with IAM Gold and the company has also announced that preliminary geophysical images at the Buenaventura project in Northern Chile outlined a three by two km area of immediate interest north of the Cerro Brecha prospect.
