A "substantial number" of gold coin collectors are becoming more active as the recession draws to a close, according to a CoinLink writer.

Greg Reynolds asserted that coin collectors are showing more activity now than they were in March and April this year, adding that a large number of "serious" coin enthusiasts were seen making purchases at several recent numismatic events.

He noted that Steve Contursi of Rare Coin Wholesalers reported a "good show" in August, adding that much of the action at the event was driven by collectors.

Further more, gold coins still represent the "hottest part of the market", gold coin expert Jeff Garrett said - and Mr Reynolds noted that many other professionals expressed similar opinions.

The American Numismatic Association's World's Fair of Money was held earlier this month and its National Money Show is set to be held next spring.

Both events are held in different cities around the country to encourage coin enthusiasts from all over America and beyond to attend.
